PWA’s Annual Love Bowl
Register today and help strike out HIV!
Since the beginning of PWA’s existence, fundraising events have helped ensure people living with HIV/AIDS have access to critical programs and services. PWA is blessed to be the recipient of funds raised through 3rd party fundraising events from many generous community supporters. PWA also plans and produces 2 signature annual events; the Friends For Life Bike Rally, now in its 19th year; and the Love Bowl.
The spirit and energy that go into planning and executing these events is inspiring and with every event, new and important community partnerships develop and long-standing relationships are formed. The passion and commitment from the community is an essential part of PWA’s success, it helps all fundraising events change lives.
On Saturday March 11th the Toronto People With Aids Foundation in partnership with the Toronto Historical Bowling Society will host the 8th Annual LOVE BOWL, presented by long-time supporter Corporate Specialty Services.
The Love Bowl is a pledge based bowling fundraiser and tournament that brings together enthusiastic bowlers of all levels for a fun afternoon of strikes, spares, and yes gutter balls. This year the theme is the 1960’s with all the peace and love you can bring.
Participants will have the opportunity to win some amazing prizes with rewards for:
- Top Individual Fundraisers
- Top Team
- Top Individual Score,
- and of course Best Outfit
The Grand Prize is a pair of tickets anywhere WestJet flies!
We invite you to bring on your best 60’s wear and channel your inner peace loving self and help us “Strike Out HIV” for an incredible cause.
You’re not just bowling, you’re making an important and powerful impact. Your efforts and participation in the event directly support people living with HIV/AIDS. Funds raised go toward PWA’s Dreaming and Engagement programs. These programs recruit, place, and support volunteers so they are able to connect with others and meaningfully contribute to positive change. Volunteers learn how to set goals, develop skills, access resources and ultimately live in to their dreams.
The programs support PHAs (people living with HIV/AIDS) through leadership roles in HIV/AIDS outreach and prevention programs. Through their involvement, they help to foster social change and uphold the rights of PHAs to live healthy, dignified, sex-positive lives through access to information, resources and supports.
Peer teams include the PHA engagement programs:
- Speakers Bureau
- Poz Prevention
- Outreach Peers
- Health Champion program’s Peer Educators
Speakers go through an extensive training program at PWA that provide them with skills to speak about their own personal experiences and journey with HIV at public schools, colleges, universities, and businesses. Through telling their stories, they help to reduce the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS.
So join us for an afternoon of fun. Sign up for this years Peace and Love Bowl and make a positive difference.
PWA wishes to thank our current Love Bowl sponsors:
